 Bioengineering Doctoral Candidate Named Tillman Scholar

Katie Piston, a doctoral candidate in the bioengineering program in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, is one of two Syracuse University students to be named 2018 Tillman Scholars by the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Piston is a Navy spouse and proud granddaughter of a WWII veteran. While earning an undergraduate degree at Purdue, she experimented with the design of “smart” military helmets and spent six years observing orthopedic surgery at the local VA hospital.
