Current Research

Dr. Santanam focuses his training in public health and engineering to develop and apply innovative solutions in the energy and environmental fields to current issues facing industrial, commercial and institutional entities. He has worked with a cross-section of governmental, public and private sector entities to effectively address indoor air quality, building energy efficiency, energy sustainability, and regulatory and environmental challenges. Dr. Santanam teaches green engineering, fundamentals of air pollution, and air pollution control design courses at Syracuse University. Dr. Santanam is one of the founding members of the Great Lakes Sustainable Energy Consortium, consisting of academic, industry and policy leaders from central upstate New York and eastern Ontario, Canada who are synergistically working to address renewable energy issues. Dr. Santanam works closely with academic researchers, industry-based scientists, practicing engineers and architects to channel academic research related to the indoor air quality and built environments, to promote developments leading to potential translation of scientific findings to develop innovative technologies in indoor environmental and energy control systems.
