Syracuse University’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering helps students gain the skills they need to make an impact on the technology of today and of the future.
Consumer electronics, wind turbines, airplanes, medical devices, power plants, and so much more—none of these innovations are possible without the disciplines of mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. With that knowledge, we are committed to preparing future leaders who can address issues ranging from energy systems engineering to robotics.
Our ABET-accredited academic programs continuously evolve to reflect the changes in technological innovation and the world we live in. Our students are given an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals and have the opportunity to pursue electives and minors that make our students some of the most sought after graduates nationwide. Students that complete our programs have found careers in companies like NASA, GE, and Lockheed Martin, built successful startups, and pursued master’s and doctoral degrees at SU and other prestigious universities and colleges.
Our department provides numerous opportunities for undergraduate research. In addition to being a tremendous learning experience, these activities often lead to conference or journal publication, and have led our students to win regional and national competitions for their work.
