Volunteer & Mentorship Opporunities
We know that our more than 20,000 alumni have a wealth of knowledge to share with current students to send them down a similar path of success. That’s why we facilitate volunteer mentorship activities to connect our successful alumni of today with our successful alumni of the future.
Alumni Mentor Program
An expansion of our long-standing Job Shadow Program, our new Alumni Mentor Program matches students with alumni in various ECS career fields. Mentors can provide support in a variety of ways: job shadowing, resume critiques, mock interviews, networking contacts, relocation information, internship/job opportunities, and more.
Job Shadow Program
Through our job shadow program, we invite you to give current engineering and computer science students at Syracuse University the opportunity to learn about and see first-hand what their professional lives can look like after graduation. Whether it be an hour tour or a full-day experience, students find great value in the opportunity to connect with you as alumni in your work setting.
- This program is for alumni who can provide worksite visits over winter break (mid-December through mid-January)
- Student sign-ups and matching will happen in early November
- Matching is based on professional interest and geographic location
- Training on what to expect from a job shadow experience is required for all students
A call for volunteers for these two programs is sent via email at the beginning of September. Please email LeAnne Shaler at [email protected] with any questions in the meantime.
