Mary Kay Montville ’86 has been named the Director of Career Services for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. She has been serving as the Interim Director since February 2019 and joined ECS as a senior career advisor in the fall of 2018. In her role, Montville advances relations with industry to grow our internship and full-time placement rates. She will also oversee career programs that support the college’s students and lead our team of career advisors. Montville will ensure that the college remains well-informed of trends in engineering and computing employment, internship, hiring, and placement, and will formulate and implement strategies that benefit our students.
Montville has over 20 years of experience in human resources and talent management. She has been serving as senior career advisor during the past year. Before that, Montville spent 12 years with C&S Companies, an architectural, engineering, project management, design, and construction firm with offices in nine states. An alumna of Syracuse, she holds a bachelor’s degree in human development.
“Mary Kay has been an outstanding leader and our advising model that provides every incoming student with their own career advisor has been an incredible success,” said Engineering and Computer Science Dean J. Cole Smith. “She and her team have been doing an exceptional job connecting students with career opportunities and internships though alumni networking, mentoring, career fairs and immersion trips.”
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to work with an amazing team. Our goal is to empower and guide our students as they prepare for their next chapter after graduation,” said Montville.
